Preliminary Meeting


Richmond 17th June 1863.

 

 

A Meeting of Gentlemen favourable to the formation of a Rowing Club in Richmond,

was held at the “Sir Henry Barkly” Hotel, this evening.

Present.

Messrs J. C. Arbuckle, M. Arbuckle, M. H. Campbell, G. Carrick, H. Crossley, W. J. Greenland, E. F. Macallister, Jas. Mitchell, Jno. Mitchell, Robt. Mitchell & T. E. White.

 

 

The following resolutions were then proposed & carried.

 

“That a Club be formed to be denominated the “Richmond Rowing Club.”

 

“That the Entrance fee be Two Guineas, and the Annual Subscription One Guinea payable in advance.”

 

“That Gentlemen joining as full members during the first three months be members for one year on payment of the Entrance fee only.”

 

“That the Treasurer be empowered to give receipts to gentlemen desirous of joining the Club as “Honorary Members”, the Annual Subscription to be One Guinea such members to have the use of Club boats but not to the exclusion of any full members & to have no claim to or share in the Club property.”

 

 

The following gentlemen were then elected provisionally as Officers of the Club.


President - Mr. A. Peregalli,

Vice Pres. - Mr. E. J. White,

Sec. & Treas. – Mr. E. F. Macallister,

Committee – Messrs. J. C. Arbuckle, M. H. Campbell, G. M. Carrick & Js. Mitchell.

 

 

The Meeting then adjourned until the 22nd inst.
