Winter Learn to Row – Session 1

Session 1 of the Learn to Row program is the first in a four part program designed to teach you the basics of rowing. In this session you will learn about the different aspects of the boat and the basics of the rowing stroke.
Starting out on dry land you will be guided over the boat and become familiar with terms like ‘bow-side’, ‘stroke-side’, ‘stern pair’ and ‘bow pair’. You will also learn the proper rowing ‘stroke’ and receive personalised coaching as you try your hand on a rowing machine. Now, you’re ready to get out there and give it a go! Guided by your coach/coxswain you will join with other new rowers and row on the spectacular Yarra River.
Don’t forget your:
- Sandals or thongs that you don’t mind getting wet – Most Important!!
- Close fitting workout clothes that do not restrict your movement.
- Water bottle
- Spare socks
- Sneakers or running shoes for using the rowing machine.
